Santy Anno
Overview
Santy Anno is a fast-paced party board game published by Repos Production where players take on the roles of notorious pirates. After a night of revelry, the pirates have forgotten where their ship is and who their captain is. Eight ships are displayed on the table, and each turn a set of movement cards is revealed. All pirates play simultaneously, racing to physically sit down in the correct chair in front of their target ship. Speed and memory are key – the first players to reach their ships earn the most doubloons. After 5 rounds, the wealthiest pirate wins.
Components
- 8 Ship cards or tiles
- 8 Chairs (positioned in front of ships)
- Movement/target cards
- Doubloon tokens (currency/scoring)
- Player markers or tokens
- Round tracker
Setup
Place 8 ship cards on the table in a circle or line, with one chair in front of each ship. Give each player their starting doubloons. Shuffle the movement/target cards. Each player receives cards or information indicating which ship they need to reach. Determine which ships are targets based on the round.
Turn Structure
Each round follows this sequence:
- Card Reveal: A set of movement/target cards is revealed, indicating which ship each player needs to reach this turn.
- Simultaneous Race: All players simultaneously try to identify their target ship and rush to sit in the chair in front of it.
- Scoring: The first 5 players to correctly sit in front of their target ships earn doubloons:
- 1st player: 5 doubloons
- 2nd player: 4 doubloons
- 3rd player: 3 doubloons
- 4th player: 2 doubloons
- 5th player: 1 doubloon
- Players who sit at the wrong ship or are too slow earn nothing.
Actions
Identifying Your Ship
- Each round, cards reveal which ship you need to reach.
- Players must quickly determine their target from the revealed information.
- Memory and speed of recognition are critical.
Racing to Your Chair
- Once you identify your target ship, physically move to sit in the chair in front of it.
- Only one player can occupy each chair.
- Speed matters – first come, first served for the highest point values.
Earning Doubloons
- Only players who correctly identify and reach their target ship earn doubloons.
- Sitting at the wrong ship earns nothing.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
After 5 rounds, total all doubloons earned. The player with the most doubloons wins.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- Wrong Ship: Sitting in front of the wrong ship earns no doubloons and wastes your action for the round.
- Chair Conflicts: If two players try to sit in the same chair simultaneously, the first to be fully seated claims it.
- Speed vs. Accuracy: Rushing increases the risk of choosing the wrong ship. Careful observation pays off.
- Changing Targets: Ship targets change each round, so memory of previous rounds may not help.
- Physical Game: This game involves physical movement – ensure adequate space around the table.
- Player Count Scaling: With fewer players, not all chairs will be occupied, reducing competition.
