Rubik’s Flip is a quick two-player abstract strategy game. Players take turns placing double-sided colored tiles onto a game board, attempting to get three of their color in a locked row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) while flipping their opponent’s tiles to disrupt their plans. The game’s simplicity and short play time make it ideal as a filler game.
First Turn (first player only): Place one of your tiles on any space on the board, choosing which color face is up.
All Subsequent Turns:
Place a Tile: Put one of your tiles onto any empty space on the board with either side face-up.
Flip an Opponent’s Tile: Turn over one of your opponent’s tiles on the board, changing its displayed color. You do not have to flip the most recently placed tile; you may flip any opponent’s tile.
Locking: A tile becomes “locked” (cannot be flipped) when all adjacent spaces (orthogonal and diagonal) are occupied. Locked tiles cannot be flipped by either player.
The first player to get 3 of their tiles showing the same color in a locked row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) wins. A locked row means none of the 3 tiles in that line can be flipped (all their adjacent spaces are occupied).
If all 16 tiles are placed and no locked three-in-a-row exists, the game is a draw.
Turn: Flip one opponent’s tile (if possible) > Place one of your tiles.
Win: 3 of your color in a locked row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal).
Locked: A tile is locked when all adjacent spaces are full.
Draw: All tiles placed with no locked three-in-a-row.
