Overview

Roll For It! is a casual dice-matching game published by Calliope Games, designed by Chris Leder. Players roll dice and match their results to the dice images shown on face-up target cards. When a player matches all the dice images on a card, they score it. The first player to accumulate 40 or more points wins. The game is simple to learn, fast to play, and suitable for families.

Components

Setup

  1. Each player selects a set of 6 dice of one color.
  2. Shuffle the deck of 30 target cards and place it face-down in the center of the table.
  3. Reveal 3 target cards face-up next to the deck. (With 5+ players using two combined sets, reveal 4 cards.)
  4. All players roll 2 dice. The player with the highest total goes first. Play proceeds clockwise.

Turn Structure

On each turn, a player completes three steps:

  1. Roll: Roll all of your available dice (dice not currently placed on cards).
  2. Match: Compare your rolled results to the dice images on the face-up target cards. Place matching dice next to the corresponding card. Each die may only be matched to one image on one card. You may spread dice across multiple cards.
  3. Score: If you have matched all dice images on a target card with your own colored dice, score that card. Take the card, return your dice from it, and flip a new card from the deck.

Actions

Rolling: Cast all unplaced dice once per turn. You roll only the dice that are not currently assigned to target cards.

Matching: After rolling, assign dice showing matching values to the corresponding images on target cards. Each die matches one image on one card only. Multiple players can have dice on the same card simultaneously.

Scoring a Card: When all images on a card are matched by your dice, you immediately claim the card and score its printed point value. Your dice return to your pool. Replace the scored card with a new one from the deck.

Take Back (optional): At the beginning of your turn, before rolling, you may choose to take back ALL of your dice from all cards. You then roll all 6 dice. This is useful when your dice are spread too thin or blocked on contested cards.

Scoring / Victory Conditions

Each target card has a printed point value (higher values require more or harder dice combinations). The first player to reach 40 or more points wins immediately.
