Rail Baron is a railroad board game set on a map of the continental United States. Players operate trains, buy railroad lines, and earn money by completing deliveries between assigned destinations. The game combines route planning, economic management, and dice-based movement. Players must purchase railroads to reduce travel costs and increase revenue. The first player to accumulate a target amount of cash and return to their home city wins.

Roll two dice for movement points. Move your train along connected railroad lines. You may use any railroad but must pay user fees for lines you don’t own.
Between turns, you may purchase available railroads at their listed prices. Owning a railroad means free travel on that line and collecting fees from other players who use it.
When you reach your assigned destination city, collect the payoff amount based on the distance/route. Then roll for your next destination.
When traveling on a railroad you don’t own, pay the owner a fee. If no player owns it, pay the bank.
The game ends when a player has accumulated the required cash amount (varies by number of players) and successfully returns to their home city. That player declares “Rail Baron” and wins.
If a player goes bankrupt, they are eliminated.
