Raids
Overview
A Viking-themed game of exploration and combat for 2-4 players. Over 4 Voyages, players steer their Longships around a circular World board, stopping at Voyage tiles to collect goods, weapons, pennants, runes, and coins. Players may fight each other for contested tiles, and must battle monsters along the way. The turn order is dynamic – the player furthest behind always goes next. The player with the most Glory points after the 4th Voyage wins.

Setup
- Place World board centrally. Each player takes a Longship board and matching marker.
- Place Viking pawns in center reserve.
- Sort Voyage tiles by backs (1-4) into face-down stacks. Shuffle Voyage 1 tiles and place face-up on board spaces following arrows.
- Place the starting Harbor tile. Shuffle remaining Harbor tiles; place one next to each Voyage stack. Return extras to box.
- Starting player takes position 4 (furthest back); others fill remaining starting spaces clockwise.
- Deal starting Vikings based on player order.
- Place Vikings in Villages on the board equal to player count.
Turn Structure
The player furthest behind on the board (clockwise) takes the next turn. A turn has 2 phases:
- Take a Voyage tile – take the tile your marker is in front of.
- Navigate – move your Longship forward along the arrows.
On your first turn of each Voyage, skip Phase 1 (no tile to take) and go straight to Navigate.
Actions
Phase 1: Take a Voyage Tile
Take the tile your Longship is currently in front of and place it:
- Weapon/Sail/Mjollnir/Pennant/Goods tiles: On your Longship’s 5 middle spaces (may replace existing tiles).
- Rune tiles: Beside your Longship (don’t take Longship space).
- Port tiles: Beside Longship; immediately sell 1-2 Goods for coins and recruit 1 Viking.
Phase 2: Navigate
Move your Longship forward following arrows. You must discard all Voyage tiles between you and the next player ahead. Then choose where to stop:
- Stop in front of any unclaimed Voyage tile (empty space = turn ends).
- Stop in front of an occupied tile = triggers Combat.
- Navigate all the way back to Harbor to end your Voyage.
Passage tiles: You can never stop on a Passage space; you must navigate past.
Combat
When stopping on an occupied tile:
- Attacker discards 1 Viking.
- Defender chooses: Retaliate (discard 2 Vikings) or Flee (move forward).
- Alternating escalation: each Retaliation costs 1 more Viking than the previous.
- The player who Flees moves to a different tile ahead.
Monsters
When passing a Monster tile, choose:
- Fight: Discard Vikings equal to Monster’s strength (reduced by Weapons).
- Sacrifice: Discard 1 Viking to pass without fighting.
- Defeated Monsters are removed; you collect rewards.
Voyage End / Harbor
At Voyage end, score the Harbor tile: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place earn VP based on the condition shown. Set up next Voyage tiles and Harbor tile. Reset starting positions.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
Glory points come from:
- Coins collected during the game
- Pennant tiles on your Longship
- Rune tile sets
- Goods remaining on your Longship
- Harbor tile bonuses each Voyage
- Defeating Monsters
After 4 Voyages, total all Glory. The player with the most Glory wins.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- Turn order is always determined by who is furthest behind (clockwise), not by seat position.
- You may take multiple turns in a row if you remain the furthest-back player.
- Discarded Voyage tiles between you and the next player are removed from the game.
- Longship has only 5 middle spaces; you must discard an existing tile to make room for a new one.
- Villages: when passing a Village, take Vikings equal to the player count placed there.
