Pyramid of Pengqueen
Overview
An asymmetric hidden-movement game for 2-5 players (ages 8+). One player controls the Mummy hunting treasure hunters through a pyramid, while the other players control treasure hunters collecting magical treasures. The board is magnetic and stands vertically – the Mummy cannot see the treasure hunters’ positions. Treasure hunters win by collecting all 5 of their treasures; the Mummy wins by collecting enough life tokens.

Setup
- Place the magnetic board in the box insert.
- Choose one player as the Mummy. Position the box so the Mummy sits on the Mummy side (marked by icon); treasure hunters sit on the opposite side.
- The Mummy player may never look at the treasure hunter side during the game.
- Place game inserts on each side of the board.
- Place both parts of the mummy figure on the sarcophagus space (larger piece on Mummy side, magnetic disc on treasure hunter side).
- Each treasure hunter chooses a color, takes 3 life tokens, and places their magnetic piece on the treasure hunter starting space.
- Separate treasure cards into 5 piles by back color, shuffle each pile, deal 1 card from each pile to each treasure hunter (5 cards per hunter, kept hidden).
- Place mummy die near Mummy player; treasure hunter dice near hunters.
Turn Structure
Play proceeds clockwise, starting with the treasure hunter to the left of the Mummy player.
Treasure Hunter Turn:
- Reset the dice (optional)
- Roll the dice (mandatory)
- Move (mandatory)
- Play a treasure card (optional)
Mummy Turn (normal): Taken after each treasure hunter completes their turn.
Mummy Turn (interrupting): Taken when a treasure hunter chooses to reset the dice.
Actions
Treasure Hunter Actions
1. Reset Dice (optional): If any dice show mummy symbols from previous turns, the active player may reset all dice. This immediately triggers a Mummy interrupting turn. After the Mummy moves, the treasure hunter continues with all 5 dice available.
2. Roll Dice (mandatory): Roll all available dice (those not showing mummies). After each roll, set aside any dice showing mummies. If satisfied, proceed to Move. Otherwise, re-roll all remaining non-mummy dice. Repeat as desired.
3. Move (mandatory): Choose one rolled die result and announce it to the Mummy:
- Number (1-4): Move exactly that many spaces horizontally or vertically. You may change direction and backtrack (each space counts). You must use the full number. Cannot end on another treasure hunter’s space. Cannot enter walls, starting space, sarcophagus, or mummy’s space.
- Arrow: Move in a straight line (horizontal or vertical) until hitting an obstacle or another treasure hunter. Stop on the space immediately before the obstacle. Cannot end on the starting space.
4. Play Treasure Card (optional): If you end on a treasure symbol matching one of your cards, reveal and play the card face up. If it is your last card, you win immediately.
Mummy Actions
Normal Turn: Roll the mummy die. Add the result to the number of treasure hunter dice currently showing mummies. Move up to that total number of spaces (horizontal/vertical only). Cannot move through walls, into the starting space, or back into the sarcophagus. If the Mummy enters a treasure hunter’s space, that hunter is caught.
Interrupting Turn: Move a number of spaces equal to the number of dice showing mummy symbols (do NOT roll the mummy die). Same movement rules apply.
Catching a Treasure Hunter
When the Mummy enters a space occupied by a treasure hunter:
- The turn ends immediately.
- The Mummy stays on that space.
- The treasure hunter is moved to the sarcophagus.
- The hunter gives one life token to the Mummy.
- A hunter who loses their last life token is eliminated.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
Treasure hunter wins: Play all 5 treasure cards (find all treasures).
Mummy wins: Collect the required number of life tokens:
- 2 treasure hunters: 4 life tokens
- 3 treasure hunters: 6 life tokens
- 4 treasure hunters: 7 life tokens
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- All 5 dice show mummies: The player loses their turn. The next player must reset, giving the Mummy an interrupting turn.
- Completely surrounded: If a hunter cannot move (3 walls + mummy on 4th side), announce this to the Mummy. Skip that turn entirely (no dice reset or roll).
- After being caught: On their next turn, a hunter may leave the sarcophagus in either direction (through breaks in the walls).
- After a normal mummy turn: Mummy dice remain showing mummies; only a treasure hunter’s Reset action reclaims them.
- Magnet tip: Place pieces in the center of spaces for proper magnetic function. If the mummy enters a space and the piece is not “caught” by the magnet, the hunter still counts as captured.
- Mummy information: The Mummy may ask to see the backs of treasure hunters’ remaining cards to determine which colors they still need.
Two-Player Rules
- The treasure hunter controls 2 pieces and both sets of life tokens.
- Draw 10 treasure cards (2 of each color).
- Take a normal turn for each piece (always in the same order).
- Either piece may play any of the player’s treasure cards if on the correct treasure.
- The Mummy takes a turn after both treasure hunters have moved.
- Treasure hunter wins by playing all 10 cards; Mummy wins by collecting 3 life tokens.
