Overview
Pictureka! is a picture-finding card game featuring four different game modes ranging from frantic races to calm memory challenges. Players search illustrated picture cards for images matching mission objectives.
Components
- 78 Pictureka picture cards (including 3 Penguin “Wild” Cards)
- 32 Mission cards (double-sided, with 2 missions per card)
- Illustrated instructions
Setup
Varies by game mode. General rules for all modes:
- Shout “Pictureka!” when you find a matching image.
- Shouting falsely before finding an image earns a punishment chosen by other players.
- The Penguin Wild Card can represent ANY picture card.
Turn Structure
Game 1: 8-Away (2-5 players, fast-paced)
Goal: Be the first to dump all 8 of your cards.
- Shuffle mission cards into a face-down draw pile. Shuffle picture cards and deal 8 to each player.
- Each player arranges their 8 cards into 4 face-down piles of 2 (only top cards are visible).
- Turn over a mission card and read both missions aloud.
- ALL players simultaneously search their top 4 cards for a matching image.
- When you find one, slap it on the mission card and yell “Pictureka!” Others must agree.
- The successful player reveals the next mission card.
- You cannot look at bottom cards until the top card is removed.
- First player to get rid of all 8 cards wins.
Game 2: Alphabetti (2+ players, high-energy)
Goal: Find pictures starting with letters of the alphabet.
- No mission cards needed. Picture cards go to the oldest player.
- On your turn, call out the target letter and lay picture cards face up one per second in rows of 4.
- All players search for something beginning with that letter.
- Shout “Pictureka!” and name what you see. If agreed, keep the card.
- Pass the deck left; next letter is called.
- Game ends when someone finds the agreed final letter. Most cards wins.
Game 3: Matchureka (2-4 players, calm)
Goal: Collect 4 mission cards by matching pairs.
- Deal 20 picture cards face down in a 5x4 grid. Shuffle mission cards into a draw pile.
- Flip the top mission card. On your turn, flip any 2 picture cards.
- If both cards match either mission on the card, shout “Pictureka!” Keep the mission card; discard the picture cards and replace from the pile.
- If no match, flip cards back down. Next player goes.
- Winner of the last card goes again. First to 4 mission cards wins.
Game 4: Cow’s Creative Combo (ages 8+, creative)
Goal: Combine multiple cards to complete missions.
- Deal 5 picture cards face up to each player. Shuffle mission cards into a draw pile.
- Flip a mission card. Players combine 2+ of their cards to match either mission.
- Shout “Pictureka!” and explain your creative combo. If everyone agrees, keep the mission card and discard used picture cards. Draw replacements.
- First to 3 mission cards wins.
