Overview

Peek-a-Mouse is a cooperative observation and memory game. Players peer through the windows of a mouse house using a flashlight to spot objects, then work together to answer questions about what they saw. The team tries to score as many points as possible before the mice come home after 6 rounds.

Components

Setup

  1. Assemble the house board for the first game (follow assembly instructions).
  2. Place the Question board matching the desired difficulty on the table next to the house.
  3. Take the Object tokens and place them on the floor board in their designated spots, matching each object to its room. Objects are double-sided (front and back matter).
  4. Place the floor board on top of the plastic insert matching the room layout.
  5. Place the Mouse Meeple on the first space of the round track and the Mouse Cylinder on the scoring track.

Actions

The primary action in Peek-a-Mouse is observing the house interior through its windows during the timed observation phase, then placing Answer tokens to respond to questions about what was seen.

Turn Structure

The game is played over 6 rounds. Each round has 3 phases:

1. Preparation

Insert the wooden Object disks into the house through the hole on top. Each player shakes the house to distribute the objects randomly. Place the flashlight in the owl’s hole and turn it on.

2. Observation

When all players are ready, one player turns on the flashlight. All players look through the windows to observe the inside of the house and find the objects. Players have about 30 seconds before the flashlight goes out. They must try to remember everything: which objects are in which rooms, which side of each token faces up, and where things are located.

Tips: Players can walk around the house to observe every angle. Players are forbidden from touching or tilting the house. Players can talk to share information.

3. Answers

Players answer the Question tokens for that round:

Question types vary by difficulty:

Multiple choice questions only give a point if the answer is completely correct.

Scoring / Victory Conditions

After answering all questions, remove the roof and check answers. For each correct answer, advance the Mouse Cylinder one space on the scoring track.

After 6 rounds, compare total score:

Score Rating
14+ points You are the real experts!
12-13 points You won! You know the mouse’s house like the back of your hand.
8-11 points Not bad at all!
4-7 points A good start, but the mice will keep some secrets from you!
Less than 4 Maybe you will do better next time?
