Odysseus

Overview

Odysseus is a light strategy game for 3-6 players where Greek gods compete to steer Odysseus’s ship to adventures that match their task cards. Players play Wind cards to influence the ship’s direction across a sea board. The ship moves according to the dominant wind direction each round. The first player to score 10 or more points by completing adventures wins.

Components

Setup

  1. Place the game board centrally.
  2. Place adventure discs on designated sea locations.
  3. Place Odysseus’s ship on the starting position.
  4. Shuffle Wind cards and deal a hand to each player.
  5. Each player receives a Task card showing 3 adventures they need to steer the ship toward.

Turn Structure

Each round:

  1. Play Wind Cards: Each player simultaneously plays Wind cards face down onto colored spaces on the board.
  2. Reveal and Resolve: All played cards are revealed. The color with the highest total wind strength determines the ship’s movement direction.
  3. Move Ship: Move the ship in the winning direction.
  4. Score Adventures: If the ship lands on an adventure disc matching a player’s Task card, that player scores points.
  5. Draw new cards to replenish hands.
