My City
Overview
My City is a legacy tile-laying game where players build a city on their personal game boards over 24 episodes grouped into 8 chapters. Each episode, construction cards are revealed one at a time, and all players simultaneously place the matching building tile on their board. The game evolves with new rules and materials introduced via sealed envelopes each chapter, changing scoring and mechanics as you play through the campaign. An “Eternal Game” variant allows unlimited replays.
Components
- 4 double-sided game boards (1 per player)
- Construction cards
- Building tiles (polyomino shapes in various colors)
- Sealed envelopes (1 per chapter, containing new rules and components)
- Scoring track
- Stickers (for legacy changes)
Setup
- Each player takes a game board and places it in front of them.
- Sort building tiles by type; each player takes a matching set.
- Shuffle construction cards and place them as a draw pile.
- Open the envelope for the current chapter if starting a new one.
- Follow any additional setup instructions from the current episode.
Turn Structure
Each episode consists of multiple rounds:
- Reveal a construction card: Flip the top card face up.
- All players simultaneously: Find the matching building tile and place it on their game board, OR pass (set the tile aside).
- Repeat until all construction cards have been revealed.
Actions
Placing Tiles
- Each building tile must be placed on empty spaces on your game board.
- Tiles cannot overlap previously placed tiles or extend off the board.
- Tiles must be placed in valid positions following the episode’s placement rules.
- If you cannot or choose not to place a tile, you pass and set it aside.
Scoring Elements (Evolve Over Episodes)
- Trees: Visible (uncovered) trees on the board score positive points.
- Rocks: Visible rocks score negative points.
- Empty spaces: Uncovered empty spaces may lose points.
- Color groups: Connected groups of same-colored buildings may score bonuses.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
At the end of each episode, players score based on the current episode’s rules. Scores are tracked on the scoring track across all 24 episodes.
Legacy Elements
Each chapter introduces permanent changes:
- New building types and shapes
- New scoring conditions
- Stickers that modify the game board
- Story developments that change rules
The player with the most cumulative victory points after all 24 episodes wins the campaign.
Eternal Game
After completing the campaign (or for non-legacy play), use the other side of the game board for unlimited replays with a fixed set of rules.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- Once a tile is placed, it cannot be moved.
- Passing on a tile means it is lost for the episode.
- Each episode’s specific rules override general rules.
- Stickers applied during the legacy campaign are permanent.
- The Eternal Game uses standardized scoring without legacy modifications.
