Monopoly Junior

Overview

Monopoly Junior is a simplified version of Monopoly designed for children ages 5-8. Players move around a boardwalk-themed board, setting up Ticket Booths on amusement spaces and collecting entrance fees from other players. The game ends when any player runs out of money, and the player with the most cash wins.

Components

Setup

  1. Each player picks a car mover and places it on “GO!” Extras are set aside.
  2. Each player takes 10 Ticket Booths matching their mover color (12 in a 2-player game). Extras set aside.
  3. Shuffle Chance cards and place face down on the marked board space.
  4. Choose a Banker. The Banker gives each player: five $1s, four $2s, three $3s, one $4, and one $5.
  5. Roll the die; highest roll goes first.

Turn Structure

On your turn:

  1. Roll the die.
  2. Move your car mover that many spaces along the Boardwalk.
  3. Follow the instructions for the space you land on.

Unoccupied Amusement Pay the Bank the amount shown, then place one of your Ticket Booths on it
Occupied Amusement Pay the booth owner the amount shown. If owner has both same-color amusements, pay double
GO! Collect $2 from the Bank each time you pass (do not forget!)
Railroad Roll again, move, and follow instructions on the new space
Fireworks / Water Show Pay $2, place it on the “Rich Uncle Pennybags’ Loose Change” space
Rest Rooms “Just Waiting” – no effect
Go to Rest Rooms Pay $3 to “Loose Change” space, move immediately to Rest Rooms (do NOT pass GO, do NOT collect $2). Roll normally next turn
Loose Change Collect all money on this space
Chance (?) Draw top Chance card, follow instructions, discard face up

Scoring / Victory Conditions

The game ends as soon as any player runs out of money. All other players count their cash on hand. The player with the most money wins.
