Monopoly Gamer
Overview
Monopoly Gamer is a Nintendo-themed Monopoly variant where players race around the board as Mario characters, collecting coins, buying properties, and fighting bosses. Instead of traditional Monopoly elimination, the game ends after the final Boss Fight, and the player with the highest score (from coins, properties, and boss cards) wins.
Components
- 1 gameboard
- 4 character tokens (Mario, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong)
- 4 character cards
- 4 reminder cards
- 8 Boss cards
- 16 Title Deed cards
- 1 numbered die
- 1 power-up die
- 90 coins (50 Golden Coins, 40 Five Coins)
Setup
- Each player chooses a character, takes the matching token and character card.
- Shuffle Boss cards and place face down near the board.
- Place Title Deed cards near their matching board spaces.
- Each player starts with a set number of coins.
- Place all tokens on GO.
Turn Structure
- Roll the numbered die and move your token clockwise.
- Roll the power-up die and activate your character’s special power-up ability.
- Resolve the space you landed on.
- If you landed on or passed GO, trigger a Boss Fight at the end of your turn.
Actions
Power-Up Die
Each character has unique abilities activated by the power-up die symbols. Effects include dropping coins (forcing opponents to pay), collecting coins from the bank, and moving other players.
Board Spaces
- Unowned Property: Buy it at the listed price or let it go.
- Owned Property: Pay rent to the owner.
- Coin spaces: Collect or pay coins as indicated.
Boss Fights
When you land on or pass GO:
- Flip the top Boss card.
- Pay the roll cost (to the Bank or onto the Boss card, as indicated).
- Roll the numbered die. If your roll equals or exceeds the Boss’s required number, you win the fight.
- Win: Carry out the Boss’s bonus and keep the card for points.
- Lose: The next player clockwise may pay to fight, and so on.
- If all players pass, the Boss escapes (removed from game). Any coins on the Boss card are discarded.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
The game ends when the last Boss card is resolved. Players total their score:
| Source |
Points |
| Coins |
1 point per coin |
| Properties |

| Boss cards |

Highest total score wins.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- Once you pass on a Boss Fight, you cannot re-enter that fight.
- Each character has unique power-up abilities detailed on their character card.
- There are no auctions; if you don’t buy a property, no one else gets the opportunity on that turn.
- Coins dropped by power-ups go onto the board; other players may collect them.
