Mmm!
Overview
Mmm! is a cooperative dice game for 1-4 players by Reiner Knizia, published by Pegasus Spiele. Players are mice raiding a kitchen pantry, trying to eat all the food before the cat reaches the door. On each turn, players roll dice and place them on matching food spaces. If they cannot place at least one die, the cat advances. The game features a double-sided board with easy (1-paw) and hard (2-paw) difficulty levels.
Components
- 1 double-sided game board (easy/hard sides)
- 3 food dice (showing various food symbols)
- Mouse tokens
- Cat token
- Cat track
Setup
- Choose difficulty (easy or hard side of the board).
- Place the cat token at the start of the cat track.
- Place mouse tokens near the board.
- The youngest player goes first.
Turn Structure
On your turn:
- Roll all 3 dice.
- Place at least 1 die on a matching food space on the board.
- You may re-roll the remaining dice and place more.
- Each re-roll requires placing at least 1 die.
- If you cannot place any die on a roll, the cat advances one space.
Actions
Rolling and Placing Dice
- Roll the 3 food dice.
- Match die results to uncovered food spaces on the board.
- Place matching dice on the board to cover food spaces (representing the mice eating).
- After placing at least 1 die, you may re-roll the remaining dice.
- Continue until all dice are placed or you fail to match.
Cat Advancement
- If you roll and cannot place any die, the cat moves 1 space toward the door.
- Your turn ends immediately.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
Win: Cover every food space on the board with mouse tokens before the cat reaches the door.
Lose: The cat reaches the door before all food is eaten.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- The hard side of the board has more food spaces and a shorter cat track.
- Players may discuss strategy cooperatively.
- All dice must be placed on different food spaces.
- Adults should be able to beat the easy side consistently; the hard side provides a real challenge.
