Overview
Maple Valley is a game of traveling trails, finding friends, and celebrating new beginnings, set in the world of Creature Comforts. Players are critters exploring the valley over 5 rounds, using Friend cards to move along trails or collect resources. Players gather ingredients, befriend animals, and prepare celebrations to earn the most points.

Setup
- Place the Maple Valley board centrally.
- Each player selects a critter and places their meeple at the starting location.
- Shuffle and deal Friend cards.
- Place resources at designated locations on the board.
- Prepare celebration card display.
- Set round marker to Round 1.
Turn Structure
The game lasts 5 rounds. Each round, players take turns using Friend cards:
- Play a Friend card: Use it to either move your critter along a trail OR collect resources at your current location.
- Resolve the card’s effect: Gain the associated benefit (movement, resources, or special ability).
- Optional actions: Spend resources to prepare celebrations, befriend animals, or gain bonus points.
Actions
Movement
Play a Friend card to move your critter along trails on the map. Different trails have different costs and benefits.
Collecting Resources
Instead of moving, use a Friend card to gather resources at your current location (berries, acorns, flowers, etc.).
Preparing Celebrations
Spend collected resources to complete celebration cards, which score victory points. Each celebration has specific resource requirements.
Befriending Animals
Meet animals at various locations to gain Friend cards or special bonuses.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
After 5 rounds, players total their victory points from:
- Completed celebrations
- Collected resources (some have residual value)
- Befriended animals
- Trail exploration bonuses
The player with the most points wins.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- Maple Valley is a standalone game; Creature Comforts is not required.
- Each critter may have unique abilities or starting advantages.
- Some celebrations require specific resource combinations that may be difficult to gather.
- Trail tiles may offer shortcuts or bonus resource opportunities.
- Solo mode includes AI-controlled opponents.
