Overview

Maestro is a card management game where each player runs a musical talent agency. By recruiting and managing musicians, players race to complete compositions, each with unique instrument requirements. The first player to complete a set number of compositions wins. Players must balance acquiring the right musicians with the timing of when to commit them to compositions.

Components

Setup

  1. Shuffle the musician cards and deal a starting hand to each player.
  2. Lay out available compositions face-up.
  3. Determine starting player.

Turn Structure

On each turn, a player may:

  1. Draw musicians: Draw cards from the deck to add musicians to your hand.
  2. Play musicians: Assign musicians from your hand to work on compositions.
  3. Complete compositions: If all required instruments are assigned to a composition, claim it.

Actions

Recruiting Musicians

Draw musician cards to build your hand of available performers. Different musicians play different instruments.

Assigning Musicians

Place musician cards from your hand onto compositions you are working on. Each composition lists specific instrument requirements.

Completing Compositions

When all required musicians (matching the instrument requirements) are assigned to a composition, it is complete. Score points for the completed composition.

Scoring / Victory Conditions

Players score points for completed compositions. The first player to complete a target number of compositions (or accumulate a target score) wins. The specific victory threshold depends on the number of players.
