Long Shot is a horse-racing board game where players buy horses, place bets, and play strategy cards to influence the outcome of a race. Players accumulate money through horse ownership and successful bets. The player with the most money after the race is the winner.
On your turn:
| Action | Details |
|---|---|
| Play Long Shot Card | Follow the card’s instructions |
| Purchase Horse | Pay the listed price for an unowned horse; gain ownership card |
| Place Bet | Pay $5 to bet on any horse not yet in the No Bets zone |
| Discard for Cash | Discard 2 cards, receive $5 |
Reroll Token: Trade in to reroll one die immediately after the initial roll. Cannot be used with card effects.
“0” Roll: Instead of moving a horse, either steal a random card from the rolled horse’s owner OR draw a card from the deck.
The race ends when three horses finish. Players receive winnings based on placement:
| Finish | Owner Payout |
|---|---|
| 1st Place | $100 |
| 2nd Place | $75 |
| 3rd Place | $50 |
Betting Payouts: Multiply the bet amount by the horse’s odds (listed on cards). Bets on non-finishing horses are lost (go to bank).
Winner: The player with the highest total cash after all payouts wins.
Turn Order: Roll d10 (highest first) -> Horse features -> Dice roll -> 1 Action -> Draw card
Finishing Payouts: | Place | Payout | |——-|——–| | 1st | $100 | | 2nd | $75 | | 3rd | $50 |
