Overview
Jurassic Snack is a two-player game where teams of young Diplodocuses (Diplos) compete to eat the most tasty leaves from neighboring pastures. Players move their Diplos to eat Grass tokens and can deploy T.Rex dinosaurs to scare away opponent Diplos. The player who eats the most valuable grass wins – unless a T.Rex eliminates all of an opponent’s Diplos first.
Components
- 4 Pasture boards (3x3 squares each)
- 10 Diplo miniatures (5 blue, 5 yellow)
- 2 T.Rex miniatures
- 28 Grass tokens
- 1 rulesheet
Setup
- Connect the four Pasture boards in any arrangement where each board shares at least one full side with another board (recommended: a square for first game).
- Each player takes 5 Diplos in their color. Place 4 on the egg spaces matching their color on the boards; the 5th goes in the player’s pool.
- Both T.Rex are placed in a pool on the edge of the playing area.
- Shuffle 28 Grass tokens face-down and place them randomly on the 28 board spaces without looking.
Turn Structure
- Blue player goes first and performs ONLY ONE action on the first turn.
- After that, players alternate turns performing TWO actions each.
- The two actions can be the same or different, and can involve the same or different Diplo/T.Rex pieces.
Actions
Moving a Diplo (Herbivore)
A Diplo moves in a straight line until blocked by:
- Another Diplo
- A T.Rex
- The edge of the playing area
- A Grass token – the Diplo eats the grass, replacing the token on that space. The token is revealed, its effect is resolved immediately, then placed face-down in front of the player.
Moving a T.Rex (Carnivore)
A T.Rex moves in a straight line until blocked by:
- Another T.Rex
- A Grass token
- The edge of the playing area
- A Diplo – the T.Rex scares the Diplo away: the T.Rex replaces the Diplo on that space, and the Diplo returns to its owner’s pool.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
The game ends immediately when any of these conditions is met:
- A player has no Diplo left on the board – that player LOSES regardless of grass scores.
- No Grass tokens remain on the board – each player reveals their collected Grass tokens and the highest score wins.
- Stalemate – during two consecutive turns, NO player has eaten a Grass token or scared away an opponent’s Diplo. Highest score wins.
In case of a tie, the player with fewer Grass tokens wins. If still tied, players share the victory.

Special Rules & Edge Cases
- If a player reveals a Grass token but cannot apply its effect (e.g., Birth when all 5 Diplos are already placed, or Air Raid when no T.Rex is on the board), that player secretly looks at TWO Grass tokens on the playing area without moving them.
- T.Rex can only be placed on the board through specific Grass token effects (Surprise, Air Raid) or by being moved once already on the board.
