I Vant to Bite Your Finger is a children’s board game published by Ideal/Hasbro in 1979 featuring a large plastic Dracula figure with a built-in biting mechanism. Players move their tokens along a graveyard path while advancing a clock. When the clock triggers Dracula to “wake up,” the active player must put their finger in Dracula’s mouth and risk a (harmless) bite with washable ink fangs. The player who reaches the end of the path first wins.
Components
1 Game Board (graveyard path with 14 red circles)
1 Large plastic Dracula figure with clock mechanism and biting mouth
4 Player tokens
Clock hand mechanism (built into Dracula)
Soft foam “fangs” with washable ink
Setup
Place the game board flat on the table with Dracula and his clock at the end of the path.
Each player selects a token and places it at the start of the graveyard path.
Ensure Dracula’s cloak is closed (reset the mechanism if needed).
Determine who goes first (youngest player or by agreement).
Turn Structure
On your turn:
Choose how many spaces to move — Move your token forward any number of circles (1 or more).
Advance the clock — Move the clock hand forward by the same number of clicks as spaces moved.
Check Dracula — If Dracula’s cloak opens (triggered by the clock mechanism), you must put your finger in his mouth.
Actions
Moving
Move your token forward along the red circles on the graveyard path.
You choose how many spaces to move (minimum 1).
The more spaces you move, the faster you progress — but the more clicks the clock receives.
Advancing the Clock
For every space moved, click the clock hand forward one position.
The clock has a hidden trigger point; when the hand reaches it, Dracula’s cloak opens.
Dracula’s Bite
If the cloak opens after your clock clicks, you must place your finger in Dracula’s mouth.
Another player operates the biting mechanism, which closes Dracula’s foam fangs on your finger.
The fangs contain washable ink that leaves a mark.
After being bitten, your token stays where it is (no penalty to position, but the scare is the punishment).
Scoring / Victory Conditions
The first player to reach the end of the graveyard path (past all 14 circles) wins.
There is no scoring — it is a pure race game with the Dracula scare as the penalty mechanic.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
Risk vs. reward: Moving more spaces gets you closer to winning but increases the chance of triggering Dracula. Moving fewer spaces is safer but slower.
Clock reset: After Dracula’s cloak opens and a bite occurs, the mechanism resets for the next trigger.
Washable ink: The ink on the foam fangs is designed to wash off easily — it is harmless and intended for children ages 4+.
No backward movement: Players never move backward; the bite is a scare, not a positional penalty.
Multiple bites: A player can be bitten multiple times during the game if they trigger the clock mechanism again.
