Overview
Husch Husch kleine Hexe (Chop Chop, Little Witch) is a bewitched memory game for 2-6 young wizards aged 3 and up. Little witches hide under long black witch hats, and players must remember which witch is under which hat. The first player to move any witch onto the final space (Blocksberg, the magic mountain) wins.
Components
- 1 Gameboard (with 7 spaces from start to Blocksberg)
- 5 Witch Hats
- 5 Witches in 5 colors
- 1 Special Die (5 color faces + 1 double-arrow symbol)
Setup
- Place one witch underneath each hat.
- Shuffle all witch hats so that nobody knows which witch is under which hat.
- Position the hats (with witches underneath) side by side on the starting space (space 1).
Turn Structure
The youngest player begins. On your turn:
- Roll the die.
- If a color is rolled:
- Lift the hat you think the matching-color witch is hiding under.
- Correct: Put the hat back on the witch and move her one space ahead toward Blocksberg (space 7). Roll again immediately.
- Wrong: Put the hat back on the witch and leave her on her current space. Your turn ends.
- If the double-arrow symbol is rolled:
- Switch the positions of any two hats without lifting them (nobody sees the witches underneath).
- Your turn ends.
Continue rolling and lifting hats until you uncover a wrong witch or roll the double-arrow symbol.
Actions
- Lift a hat: Attempt to find the witch matching the rolled color
- Move a witch: Advance one space toward Blocksberg on a correct guess
- Swap hats: Exchange positions of any two hats (double-arrow roll)
Scoring / Victory Conditions
The first player to move any witch onto the 7th and final space (Blocksberg) wins the game. It does not matter which color witch reaches Blocksberg; the player who moves her there wins.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- Players keep rolling as long as they guess correctly. A turn only ends on a wrong guess or a double-arrow roll.
- The double-arrow swap creates confusion as witches change positions without anyone seeing which witch went where.
- Any player can move any witch – you do not “own” a specific color. You are simply trying to be the player who successfully identifies and advances witches.
- The game is designed for children ages 3 and up, making it suitable for very young players.
