Overview

Funny Bunny is a children’s board game for 2-4 players published by Ravensburger. Players race their bunnies up a 3D green hill toward a giant carrot at the summit. Each turn, players draw cards that either advance a bunny or rotate the carrot, which opens and closes holes in the hillside. Bunnies that fall into holes are eliminated. Obstacles including moles, drawbridges, and gates add further hazards. The first player to get one of their bunnies to the top of the hill wins.

Components

Setup

  1. Place the green hill in the middle of the table.
  2. Each player takes 4 bunnies of the same color.
  3. Place all bunnies in front of the large stairway leading to the first space.
  4. Shuffle the card deck and place it face-down.
  5. Youngest player goes first.

Turn Structure

On your turn:

1. Draw a Card

Draw the top card from the deck.

2. Resolve the Card

3. Check for Fallen Bunnies

After a carrot rotation, check if any bunny is standing on a space that has become an open hole. Any bunny on an open hole falls in and is eliminated from the game.

4. Pass

Play passes clockwise.

Moving Bunnies

Rotating the Carrot

Obstacles

| Obstacle | Effect | |———-|——–| | Holes | Open/close when carrot is turned. Bunnies on open holes fall in. | | Mole | Pops out when carrot is turned. Pushes any bunny in front of the mole hole down the hill. | | Drawbridge | Raised or lowered by carrot turns. If down, bunnies cross freely. If up, bunnies cannot pass. | | Gate | Opens at random when carrot turns. Pushes adjacent bunnies off to the side and down. |

Scoring / Victory Conditions

Win: The first player to get one of their bunnies to the top of the hill (the carrot) wins.

Elimination: If all 4 of a player’s bunnies fall into holes, that player is eliminated and must wait for the next game.

Special Rules & Edge Cases

Skipping Occupied Spaces

When moving, occupied spaces are jumped over and not counted. This means a movement card of 3 could move a bunny further than 3 physical spaces if some are occupied.

Multiple Bunnies

Players manage all 4 bunnies simultaneously. Choosing which bunny to advance is a tactical decision – spreading risk across multiple bunnies vs. pushing one ahead quickly.

Card Deck Exhaustion

If the deck runs out, reshuffle the discard pile to form a new deck.

Carrot Mechanism

The rotating carrot mechanism is the game’s signature feature. It physically opens and closes holes in the 3D hill, creating tension with each rotation.
