Overview
Diamant is a push-your-luck exploration game where players venture into the Tacora Cave to gather diamonds. Each round, players decide step by step whether to continue deeper into the cave or return to camp to safely store their treasures. If a trap springs twice, all remaining explorers flee empty-handed. The player with the most precious stones at the end of 5 rounds wins.
Components
- 1 game board (camp connected to 5 cave entrances)
- 35 Expedition Cards:
- 15 Treasure cards (showing Ruby values: 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.)
- 15 Trap cards (3 each of 5 types: giant spiders, snakes, lava pits, rolling boulders, battering rams)
- 5 Relic cards (identical)
- 16 Decision cards (8 Continue cards, 8 Exit cards)
- 5 Barricade tiles (numbered 1-5 on back)
- 100 Precious Stones:
- 60 Rubies (worth 1 point each)
- 40 Diamonds (worth 5 points each)
- 8 Chests
- 8 Explorer figures
- 1 rulebook
- 1 player aid
Setup
- Place the game board on the table.
- Place each Barricade tile in front of the corresponding cave entrance (numbered 1-5).
- Shuffle all Expedition cards and place face-down on the deck space on the board.
- Place Rubies and Diamonds next to the board as the Precious Stone reserve.
- Each player takes one “Continue” and one “Exit” Decision card.
- Each player chooses a color and takes the matching Chest and Explorer figure.
Turn Structure
The game plays over 5 rounds, each corresponding to one cave entrance.
Each Round:
1. Advance into the Cave
Flip the top Expedition card and place it face-up in the middle of the table.
- Treasure Card: Take Rubies from the reserve equal to the number shown. Divide equally among all players still in the cave. Remainder stays on the Treasure card.
- Trap Card (first appearance): Nothing happens; the expedition continues.
- Trap Card (second identical trap): All players in the cave immediately flee empty-handed back to camp. One of the two identical Trap cards is removed from the game; the other goes back into the deck. The expedition ends immediately.
- Relic Card: Stays on the cave path. Nothing happens immediately; proceed to Players’ Decision.
2. Players’ Decision
Before a new Expedition card is revealed, each player still in the cave secretly chooses Continue or Exit by placing a Decision card face-down. All reveal simultaneously.
- Continue: Stay in the cave to gather more treasure.
- Exit: Return to camp:
- Place Explorer figure on camp.
- Collect all leftover Rubies on Treasure cards along the path. If multiple players exit simultaneously, share equally (leftovers stay on any Treasure card).
- Relics: If only one player exits, they take all Relic cards in the cave. If multiple exit, no one takes Relics. Relic values: first 3 Relics to leave the cave are worth 5 Rubies (1 Diamond) each; subsequent Relics are worth 10 Rubies (2 Diamonds) each.
- Place all gathered Rubies safely into your Chest. You may exchange 5 Rubies for 1 Diamond at any time.
3. Repeat steps 1-2 until the round ends.
End of a Round
A round ends when all players return to camp OR when the same trap appears twice.
- Place a Barricade tile to close the corresponding cave entrance.
- Return leftover Rubies on Treasure cards to the reserve.
- Remove any Relic cards still in the cave from the game.
- Remove the second identical Trap card from the game (if applicable).
- Shuffle all revealed Expedition cards back into the deck.
Actions
Players have two key decisions each expedition step:
| Action |
Effect |
| Continue |
Stay in the cave; risk traps but potentially gain more treasure |
| Exit |
Return to camp; safely store gathered treasure in Chest |
Scoring / Victory Conditions
- The game ends after all 5 rounds (all Barricade tiles placed).
- Each player counts Precious Stones in their Chest plus those on collected Relic cards.
- Rubies = 1 point each
- Diamonds = 5 points each
- The player with the highest score wins. Ties are shared.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- Rubies gathered during an expedition sit next to your Chest and can be lost if a trap triggers. Only Rubies placed inside the Chest are safe.
- You may exchange 5 Rubies for 1 Diamond at any time.
- When dividing Rubies from a Treasure card, remainder Rubies stay on the card and can be picked up by exiting players.
- Relic cards are safe once collected (not stored in Chest but still count).
- If the expedition ends due to a trap, all players lose their ungathered Rubies.
