Overview

Cranium is a party board game where teams move around a board completing activities in four categories: Creative Cat (drawing/sculpting), Data Head (trivia), Star Performer (acting/humming), and Word Worm (word puzzles). Teams roll dice to move, draw cards, and complete timed challenges. The first team to reach Cranium Central and complete a final activity wins.

Components

Setup

  1. Place the game board in the center of the table.
  2. Divide into teams (at least 2 players per team).
  3. Each team places their mover on the Start space.
  4. Shuffle each card category and place them in their designated spots.

Turn Structure

  1. Roll the die and move your team’s piece clockwise around the board.
  2. Draw a card from the category matching the color of your landing space.
  3. Complete the activity on the card before time runs out.
  4. If successful, roll and move again. If not, wait for your next turn.

Actions

Four Activity Categories:

Category Color Activities
Creative Cat Yellow Drawing (eyes closed, one continuous line), sculpting with Cranium Clay
Data Head Red Trivia questions, true/false, multiple choice
Star Performer Green Acting, humming songs, impersonations
Word Worm Blue Spelling backwards, word puzzles, definitions

All-Play Cards: When an All-Play card is drawn, all teams compete simultaneously. The winning team gets a bonus roll. If it was the drawing team’s first activity on a Planet Cranium, successful completion lets them hop onto the fast track.

Fast Track: If your team succeeds on the first activity you do on a Planet Cranium space, you hop on the inner fast track for quicker progress.

Scoring / Victory Conditions

  1. Navigate around the board to reach Cranium Central.
  2. Upon reaching Cranium Central, the other teams collectively choose the card category for your final activity.
  3. If unsuccessful, try again on your next turn.
  4. The first team to successfully complete an activity in Cranium Central wins (All-Play cards count too).
