Concept Kids: Animals is a cooperative guessing game for children aged 4 and up, adapted from the original Concept. Players work together to guess animals by placing rings on icons on the game board. The active player(s) place rings to describe the animal’s characteristics (habitat, color, size, diet, etc.) while other players try to guess the animal. The team aims to guess 12 animals successfully.
Components
1 game board with universal icons
110 animal cards (divided into two difficulty levels)
Ring tokens for placing on icons
Scoring track
Setup
Place the game board in the center of the table.
Shuffle the animal cards and place them face down.
Place ring tokens within reach of all players.
The youngest player starts as the active player.
Turn Structure
The active player draws an animal card and looks at the animal without showing others.
The active player places rings on icons on the game board to describe the animal’s characteristics (where it lives, its color, size, what it eats, how it moves, etc.).
Other players call out guesses at any time.
When someone guesses correctly, the team scores. Move the scoring marker.
The next player clockwise becomes the active player.
Actions
Giving Clues
Place rings on icons representing the animal’s features: habitat, color, size, number of legs, diet, behavior, etc.
Multiple rings can be placed on different icons.
The active player can only say “yes” or “no” to guesses but cannot give verbal hints.
Rings can be added, removed, or rearranged at any time.
Guessing
All other players may guess at any time with no limit on attempts.
Cooperation is encouraged; players may discuss ideas together.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
The game is cooperative. The goal is to correctly guess 12 animals. Each correctly guessed animal earns 1 point on the scoring track. The team’s performance is measured by how many animals are guessed within the allotted cards.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
If no one can guess the animal, the card is set aside and no point is earned.
The two difficulty levels on the cards allow adaptation for younger or older children.
There is no time limit per card; play at a comfortable pace.
For younger children, showing the card options or giving additional hints is encouraged.
The game works with any number of players; larger groups can have multiple active players collaborating.
