Overview

Catan Histories: Rise of the Inkas follows the rise and fall of three successive civilizations in ancient Peru. Players lead tribes through three cultural eras, building settlements, roads, and cities to accumulate culture points. When a tribe reaches its cultural apex, it falls and overgrows, and the player begins with a new tribe. The first player to bring their third tribe to its apex wins. The game uses familiar Catan mechanics (dice rolling, resource collection, trading, building) with 8 resource/good types and unique tribal progression.

Components

Setup

  1. Assemble frame and place hexes (fixed for beginners).
  2. Place number tokens on hexes.
  3. Each player places 2 starting settlements and 2 roads.
  4. Each player starts with 2 culture points.

Turn Structure

Standard Catan turn: roll dice, trade, build.

1. Roll Dice: All hexes with the matching number produce for adjacent settlements/cities. Resources (wood, ore, stone, wool) and goods (feathers, coca, fish, potato) are collected.

2. Trade: Trade with other players. Goods (feathers, fish, coca) can be used as currency: trade goods at special exchange rates instead of using harbors.

3. Build: Roads, settlements, cities, and development cards using resource combinations.

Actions
