Overview

The Catan Card Game is a two-player card game where each player builds a principality by expanding settlements into cities, constructing buildings, and recruiting knights. Players manage resources (grain, wool, ore, brick, lumber) obtained through dice rolls and card play. The game uses an event die and a production die each turn, with 62 expansion cards providing buildings, knights, and special abilities. The first player to reach a set number of victory points wins.

Components

Setup

  1. Sort cards by back symbols.
  2. Each player arranges their 9 starting cards: 2 settlements connected by a road, with regions flanking each settlement.
  3. Place event cards face-down in the center.
  4. Place region, road, settlement, and city development card stacks in a row.
  5. Shuffle expansion cards and divide into 5 roughly equal stacks.

Turn Structure

Each turn:

  1. Roll both dice: The event die triggers special events. The production die determines which regions produce resources (rotate resource cards to show availability).
  2. Actions: Build roads, settlements, cities; play expansion cards; trade resources.
