Overview
The Catan Card Game is a two-player card game where each player builds a principality by expanding settlements into cities, constructing buildings, and recruiting knights. Players manage resources (grain, wool, ore, brick, lumber) obtained through dice rolls and card play. The game uses an event die and a production die each turn, with 62 expansion cards providing buildings, knights, and special abilities. The first player to reach a set number of victory points wins.
Components
- 120 cards total:
- 9 red shield starting cards (Player A)
- 9 blue shield starting cards (Player B)
- 11 region cards, 7 road cards, 5 settlement cards, 7 city cards
- 10 event cards
- 62 expansion cards (yellow, green, red text fields)
- 1 event die, 1 production die

Setup
- Sort cards by back symbols.
- Each player arranges their 9 starting cards: 2 settlements connected by a road, with regions flanking each settlement.

Turn Structure
Each turn:

- Actions: Build roads, settlements, cities; play expansion cards; trade resources.
Actions
- Build roads: Connect settlements (cost: 1 brick + 1 lumber per road).
- Build settlements: Place at road endpoints (cost: 1 each of brick, lumber, grain, wool). Worth 1 VP.
- Upgrade to cities: Convert settlements (cost: 3 ore + 2 grain). Worth 2 VP.
- Draw expansion cards: Pay gold or resources to draw from expansion stacks.
- Play expansion cards: Buildings and knights attach to your settlements/cities. Each provides ongoing benefits.
- Trade: 3:1 with the supply, or use harbor/counting house for better rates.
Special tokens:
- Windmill Token: Goes to the player with the most grain production (commerce bonus).
- Knight Token: Goes to the player with the most knight strength (tournament bonus).
