Overview

Bug-opoly is a Monopoly-style board game with an insect theme, published by Late for the Sky Production Company. Players buy, sell, and trade their favorite insects while learning amazing bug facts. The game follows standard Monopoly mechanics with insect-themed properties and flavor text. It includes both original and one-hour variant rules.

Components

Setup

  1. Place the board in the center of the table.
  2. Each player selects a playing token and places it on “GO.”
  3. Distribute starting money equally to all players.
  4. Shuffle event cards and place them in their designated spot on the board.
  5. Place property deeds, houses, and money in the bank.
  6. Determine first player by rolling dice.

Turn Structure

On each turn:

  1. Roll the dice.
  2. Move your token clockwise that many spaces.
  3. Resolve the space you land on:
    • Unowned property: Buy it or let it go to auction.
    • Owned property: Pay rent to the owner.
    • Event space: Draw a card and follow its instructions.
    • Tax space: Pay the indicated amount.
    • Special spaces: Follow specific instructions (Go, Jail, Free Parking, etc.).

Scoring / Victory Conditions

The game ends when all but one player have gone bankrupt. The last player with money and property remaining wins.

One-Hour Variant: Set a timer for one hour. When time expires, each player totals their cash plus the mortgage value of their properties. The wealthiest player wins.
