Overview
Bookchase is a literary trivia board game for 2 to 6 players, ages 6 and up. Players move around the board collecting books from six literary categories by answering multiple-choice questions and landing on special spaces. The first player to collect one book from each of the six categories and reach the center of the board wins.

- Player pawns
- Bookchase Shelf cards (6 slots for collected books, one per category)

Setup
- Place the board in the center of the table.
- Each player chooses a pawn and a Bookchase Shelf card.
- Place all book tokens in their respective category areas on the board.
- Shuffle the question cards and place them in their draw pile.
- Shuffle Award and Sentence cards separately.
- Each player places their pawn on the starting space.
Turn Structure
On each turn:
- Roll the dice.
- Move your pawn that number of spaces in any direction you choose.
- Resolve the space you land on (answer a question, visit a special location, or draw a card).
- If you answered correctly at a Bookchase Runner space, claim a book of the matching category.
Actions
Move:
- Roll the dice and move that number of spaces in any direction.
- You may change direction at intersections and dead-ends but may not backtrack within a single turn.
Answer a Trivia Question:
- When landing on a Bookchase Runner space, answer a multiple-choice question about books and literature.
- If correct, claim a book token of the category matching the section of the board.
Visit Special Spaces:
- The Bookshop: Acquire a book through a special mechanism.
- The Book Corner: Another opportunity to gain a book.
- The Library: Draw a bonus card or answer a special question.
Award and Sentence Cards:
- Drawing these cards may provide benefits (Award) or penalties (Sentence) affecting your position or book collection.
Final Sprint:
- Once you have all 6 books, race to the center space of the board. An exact roll is required to land on it.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
The first player to collect one book from each of the 6 categories and then reach the center space of the board with an exact dice roll wins.
Book Categories:
- Children & Fun
- Crime & Thrillers
- Plays & Poetry
- Fantasy & Sci-Fi
- Travel Adventure
- Classics & Modern
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- Direction Choice: Players may move in any direction they choose each turn, allowing strategic navigation toward desired category sections.
- No Backtracking: While direction can change at intersections, a player cannot reverse along the same path within a single turn.
- Exact Roll for Center: The final move to the center requires rolling the exact number needed. Excess movement is wasted.
- Award/Sentence Cards: These event cards can significantly impact gameplay — Awards help while Sentences hinder.
- Multiple-Choice Questions: All trivia questions are multiple-choice, making the game accessible even to players without deep literary knowledge.
