Overview
BITS is a tile-placement puzzle game with the tagline “Observe, build, win!” Players place tiles to create patterns and score points based on the configurations they create. The game challenges players to think spatially and plan their tile placements to maximize their scoring opportunities. It plays 1-4 players with quick game times.
Components

Setup
Shuffle or randomly draw tiles. Each player receives a starting hand of tiles. Set up the scoring track. Determine the first player.
Turn Structure
On each turn:
- Observe: Examine the current board state and your available tiles.
- Place Tile: Place one tile from your hand onto the board, connecting to existing tiles.
- Score: Calculate points earned from the placement based on pattern matching and configuration.
- Draw: Draw a new tile to replenish your hand.
Actions
- Place Tile: Position a tile on the board adjacent to existing tiles. The tile’s orientation and placement affect scoring.
- Pattern Matching: Score points when placed tiles create or extend matching patterns, colors, or shapes.
- Strategic Positioning: Plan placements to set up future high-scoring moves while limiting opponents’ options.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
Players accumulate points throughout the game for successful tile placements and completed patterns. The game ends when all tiles have been placed or no valid placements remain. The player with the highest score wins.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- Placement Rules: Tiles must be placed adjacent to at least one existing tile and in a valid orientation.
- Solo Mode: The game can be played solo as a puzzle, trying to achieve the highest possible score.
- Tile Variety: Different tile types have different pattern configurations, creating varied scoring opportunities.
