Bitin’ Off Hedz is a madcap dinosaur racing game where players race their dinosaurs from Start to the Volcano at space 100. Along the way, players collect rocks (the game’s currency), throw rocks at opponents to swap positions, push rivals into bad spots, and bite off heads to send opponents back to Start. The first player to reach the Volcano with an exact roll wins.
Components
Game board (numbered path from Start/0 to Volcano/100)
1 pawn per player
~40 rocks (generic supply)
2 six-sided dice
Setup
Each player chooses a pawn to represent their dinosaur.
2-3 players: Each player controls two pawns (see special rules below).
Place a supply of rocks in the lagoon (central area).
Place all pawns on the Start space. Each player takes 1 rock (Start is a Rock space).
The oldest player goes first; play proceeds to the left.
Turn Structure
On your turn:
Roll two dice (unless modified by Mudd Pitt or Lava).
Optionally spend rocks to re-roll individual dice before moving.
Move forward the total shown on the dice.
Resolve any interactions (rocks, other players, special spaces).
If alone in last place, optionally spend 1 rock for an extra turn (once per normal turn).
Important: You must move at least one space forward before interacting with anything on the board.
Actions
Collect Rocks
Rock spaces: When you land on a rock space, take 1 rock from the supply.
Rocks on the path: You may scoop up rocks dropped by other players as you pass by (no need to land exactly).
Re-Roll Dice
After rolling but before moving, spend rocks to re-roll dice one at a time.
Each rock spent re-rolls 1 die. Leave spent rocks on the trail where your turn started.
Throw Rocks
Dotted lines on the board are lines of sight. If you can see another player, you may throw a rock at them.
Hand the target 1 rock. Both players roll 1 die – higher roll wins. Ties go to the player on higher ground (higher numbered space).
Attacker wins: Turn ends. The two dinosaurs switch places.
Attacker loses: May immediately try again (spending another rock) until they succeed, give up, or run out of rocks.
Stopping to throw: You may stop mid-move to throw a rock if you can see another player (must have moved at least 1 space). This ends your move.
Push Other Players
If you would move past another player, you may push them instead.
You stop on their space and steal 1 of their rocks.
The pushed player finishes the rest of your move, making all decisions (Think spaces, who to push, etc.).
If pushed onto a Boo! space, the pushed player gets to roll again.
Bite Off Heads
If you finish your move exactly on another player’s space, you may bite off their head.
Steal all their rocks and send them back to Start.
You may choose to spare them and coexist peacefully.
Exception: Head-biting is not permitted on Safety Beach (spaces 0-10).
Head-biting requires a perfectly aimed roll – cannot happen from stopping mid-move.
Extra Turn
If alone in last place at the end of your turn, spend 1 rock for one extra turn.
Only once per normal turn. The rock stays on the trail.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
The first player to land exactly on the Finish (Volcano, space 100) wins.
If your roll overshoots the Finish, you do not move but may spend rocks to re-roll.
From Lava spaces, you can move directly to the Volcano (treated as space 77) with an exact roll.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
Special Spaces
Space Type
Effect
Rock Space
Take 1 rock from supply when landing here
Mudd Pitt
Roll only 1 die when starting here (Start and last 3 spaces before Finish are Mudd Pitts)
BOO!
Roll again immediately when landing here
THINK!
Choose between two routes
Learn to Fly
Transparent spaces – if you stop here, fall into the ocean, lose all rocks, return to Start
Lava
Roll only 1 die when starting here. Must spend 1 rock to survive landing here (otherwise return to Start, lose all rocks). Cannot spend rocks for any reason on Lava except the survival rock
Safety Beach
Spaces 0-10: head-biting is not permitted
Rock Limit
Maximum 6 rocks at any time. Return excess to supply at the start of your turn.
The Shortcut
From a Lava space, you can move directly into the Volcano with an exact roll (treating it as space 77). If you overshoot, you cannot re-roll and must continue the normal path.
2-3 Player Rules
Each player controls 2 dinosaurs with separate turns, rocks, and positions.
Allied dinosaurs cannot push, bite, or throw rocks at each other.
Win by getting just 1 dinosaur to the Finish.
