AmuseAmaze is a word-race board game set in a letter maze. Players navigate through a maze of hedges and letters, spelling words as they go. The game combines word-building with maze navigation and spatial strategy. The unique 18-part modular game board provides over 6 billion possible configurations, ensuring every game is different.
Components
18-part modular game board (creates the letter maze)
Player pawns (one per player)
Letter tiles
Colored target cards
Timer (optional)
Setup
Assemble the 18-part game board to create the letter maze. The configuration can vary each game.
Place colored target markers on designated spaces.
Each player selects a pawn and places it at the start of the maze.
Shuffle and prepare target cards.
Determine first player.
Turn Structure
On each turn, a player:
Forms a word using letters printed on the board and/or letter tiles.
Moves their pawn from the first letter of the word, through each adjacent letter in sequence, to the last letter. The path must follow connected/adjacent spaces through the maze.
Collects target cards if they land on or pass through colored target spaces during their word path.
Actions
Word Formation
Words must be spelled using the letters available on adjacent board spaces, forming a continuous path through the maze.
Each letter in the word corresponds to a space the pawn moves through.
Longer words allow greater movement through the maze.
The letter maze changes as the game progresses (tiles may shift or be rearranged).
Movement
The pawn moves from the first letter of the word to the last, following the path of the spelled word.
Movement must follow adjacent spaces — you cannot jump over walls or skip letters.
Strategic word choice allows you to navigate toward target spaces.
Target Collection
When a pawn lands on or passes through a colored target space, the player collects the associated target card.
Players need to visit a set number of colored target spaces to win.
Scoring / Victory Conditions
The first player to:
Visit the required number of colored target spaces (collecting their target cards), AND
Reach the end of the maze (bottom row in 3-6 player games, or a space adjacent to the start in 2-player games)
…wins the game.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
Modular board: The 18-part board can be arranged in billions of configurations, making each game unique.
Dynamic maze: The letter maze may change during play as tiles shift, requiring adaptive strategy.
Word validity: Standard dictionary words are typically required; proper nouns and abbreviations are usually not allowed.
Minimum word length: Words must be at least a certain number of letters (typically 3+).
2-player end condition: In a 2-player game, the finish is adjacent to the start space rather than the bottom row.
