Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small
Overview
A streamlined 2-player version of Agricola focused on animal husbandry. Players are farmers raising sheep, pigs, cows, and horses over 8 rounds. Workers are placed on action spaces to collect resources, build fences and buildings, and acquire animals. Each action space can only be used once per round. The player with the most animals and most valuable buildings wins.

Setup
- Place game board in center. Each player takes a farm board.
- Lay out the 4 special buildings.
- Place farm expansions, feeding troughs, and stall tiles off to the side.
- Sort building materials and animals into general supply.
- Give each player 9 borders. Place remaining 8 borders near the “Expand” action space.
- Each player starts with 3 workers.
Turn Structure
The game lasts 8 rounds. Each round:
- Replenish accumulating action spaces with resources/animals.
- Place workers alternately (starting player first). Each player places 1 worker at a time on an unoccupied action space and takes the action.
- After all workers are placed, all workers return home.
Actions
Workers are placed on action spaces to gain resources, animals, or build improvements.
Resource Collection
- Collect wood, stone, reed from accumulating spaces
- Collect animals from accumulating spaces
Building
- Build Fences: Use borders to create enclosed pastures on your farm
- Build Stalls: Place stall tiles (hold 3 animals each, or 6 with feeding trough)
- Upgrade Stalls to Stables: Flip stall tiles to hold 5 animals (or 10 with feeding trough)
- Build Special Buildings: Construct one of the 4 available special buildings
- Expand Farm: Take a farm expansion tile and borders

- Each pasture holds animals of only one type.
- Feeding troughs double capacity of the space they occupy.

Highest score wins.
Special Rules & Edge Cases
- Each animal type must be kept in separate pastures.
- The cottage holds exactly 1 animal (a house pet).
- The Half-Timbered House replaces the cottage and holds 1 animal of each type.
- When a building is placed adjacent to existing borders, those borders do not provide additional benefit.
- You cannot return previously built borders to your supply.
- Animals received that cannot be housed must be returned immediately.
- Feeding troughs placed outside a pasture/building can hold exactly 1 animal.
