Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small

Overview

A streamlined 2-player version of Agricola focused on animal husbandry. Players are farmers raising sheep, pigs, cows, and horses over 8 rounds. Workers are placed on action spaces to collect resources, build fences and buildings, and acquire animals. Each action space can only be used once per round. The player with the most animals and most valuable buildings wins.

Components

Setup

  1. Place game board in center. Each player takes a farm board.
  2. Lay out the 4 special buildings.
  3. Place farm expansions, feeding troughs, and stall tiles off to the side.
  4. Sort building materials and animals into general supply.
  5. Give each player 9 borders. Place remaining 8 borders near the “Expand” action space.
  6. Each player starts with 3 workers.

Turn Structure

The game lasts 8 rounds. Each round:

  1. Replenish accumulating action spaces with resources/animals.
  2. Place workers alternately (starting player first). Each player places 1 worker at a time on an unoccupied action space and takes the action.
  3. After all workers are placed, all workers return home.

Actions

Workers are placed on action spaces to gain resources, animals, or build improvements.
