Overview
Age of Mythology: The Boardgame is a strategic board game based on the video game Age of Mythology, designed by Glenn Drover and published by Eagle Games in 2003. The game features hundreds of miniatures, action card-driven gameplay, and a unique victory point allocation system.

Setup
Each player selects a civilization (Greek, Egyptian, or Norse) and receives their individual player board. Players receive a starting supply of resources, units, and production tiles placed in the Production Area. Victory point cards are placed in the center. The main game board is set up with territories.
Turn Structure
Players take turns in sequence. On each turn, a player:
- Play Action Cards: Select and play action cards to perform various activities.
- Allocate Victory Points: Assign 3 victory points to one of the four victory point categories.
- Resolve Actions: Carry out the effects of played action cards.
Actions
Action Cards
Action cards allow players to perform the following activities:
- Add Production Tiles: Place new production tiles in the Production Area
- Assign Workers: Place workers on production tiles to activate them
- Gather Resources: Collect food, wood, gold, and favor from production tiles
- Build Units: Recruit soldiers, myth units, and heroes using resources
- Build Buildings: Construct buildings in the City Area
- Trade Resources: Exchange resources at set rates
- Advance in Age: Progress to a more advanced age, unlocking new capabilities

Combat System
- Each battle round, both attacker and defender select one unit to fight
- Each side rolls dice based on their unit’s strength and type advantages (e.g., heroes are strong against myth units, myth units against soldiers)
- The player who rolls fewer 6s loses their unit
- After each round, either player may choose to retreat
- Winning attacks yields rewards:
- Attack on Production Area: steal a production tile from the defender
- Attack on City Area: destroy 1 building (sometimes 2) from the defender
- Attack on Supplies: take resources from the defender
Victory Point Allocation
Each turn, a player must allocate exactly 3 victory points to one of four categories:
- Largest Army: Awarded at game end to the player with the most points here AND the largest army
- Most Buildings: Awarded at game end to the player with the most points here AND the most buildings
- Won the Last Battle: Claimed during play when you win a battle
- The Wonder: Awarded at game end if you built the Wonder
Scoring / Victory Conditions
The game ends after a set number of rounds or when triggered by specific conditions. Victory points are tallied from the four victory point categories. The player with the most total victory points wins.
