Adventure Land

Overview

King Agamis calls adventurers to protect his kingdom from fog creatures. Players move adventurers across a grid board, collecting gold, herbs, swords, and companions while fighting fog creatures. The game includes three different adventure scenarios with varying objectives and scoring. Adventurers can only move south or east (down or right), never north or west.

Components

Setup

  1. Place game board in the center. Place terrain cards, fog creatures, swords, and herbs in face-down stacks.
  2. Place companions, water sprite, and gold nearby.
  3. Choose one of the three adventures and place its overview card.
  4. Each player chooses a color and places scoring marker on 0.
  5. Set aside adventurers, companions, and swords per player count:
    • 2 players: 0 removed, 8 of each companion/sword removed
    • 3 players: 2 of each color removed, 5 of each companion/sword removed
    • 4 players: 2 of each color removed, 2 of each companion/sword removed
  6. Place adventurers in starting areas (outside rows 1-4 and columns A-D).
  7. Draw 8 terrain cards and place items on the board.

Turn Structure

Clockwise from youngest player, each turn has 2 actions:

  1. Draw 2 terrain cards and place corresponding items on the board.
  2. Move adventurer(s): Either move 1 adventurer twice, or 2 adventurers once each.

Moving Adventurers

Movement rules:

Water Sprite

When gold appears on the river, the water sprite moves to that location. All adventurers and companions on river spaces the water sprite passes are removed from the game.

Combat

When an adventurer enters a fog creature’s space, combat occurs.

Combat strength = 1 (adventurer) + 1 per companion + sword dice rolls (up to 3 swords, roll 1 die each) + sword bonus values + herbs used + gold used.

Using gold in combat: Either gain +1 strength per gold, or reroll one die per gold spent.

If a fog creature appears on an occupied space, combat is immediate.

Scoring / Victory Conditions

Scoring depends on the chosen adventure scenario:

Adventure 1 - The Fellowship: Score points based on defeated fog creatures and collected resources.

Adventure 2 - The Magnificent: More challenging scoring with different victory conditions.

Adventure 3 - Escape to the Cities: Multiple simultaneous objectives.

Highest score wins.
