Advance to Boardwalk

Overview

Players compete to become the richest builder on the boardwalk by constructing hotel units on properties within color zones. The value of the dice determines how much you can spend building, and the color die determines where. Your token’s position on the boardwalk reflects the total value of all properties you own. The first player to run out of hotel units or reach the last space on the boardwalk triggers the end of the game.

Components

Setup

  1. Place the gameboard in the center.
  2. Sort property cards by color and place opposite their matching color zone and value on the board.
  3. Shuffle Fortune cards face down on the Fortune Card Draw Pile space.
  4. Each player chooses a token and places it on START.
  5. Distribute hotel units by player count:
    • 4 players: 14 units each
    • 3 players: 16 units each
    • 2 players: 20 units each
  6. Each player draws 2 Fortune cards (keep hidden).
  7. Roll numbered dice to determine first player (highest goes first). Play passes left.

Turn Structure

On your turn, perform these steps in order:

  1. Roll all 3 dice (2 numbered + 1 color die)
  2. Build unit(s) if possible (or draw Fortune card if “F” rolled)
  3. Take property card(s) if you became a new owner
  4. Move tokens (yours forward, opponents’ backward if ownership changed)
  5. Play a Fortune card (optional, at end of turn)
  6. End turn by passing dice to the left
