Overview
20 Questions is a party/trivia game where players take turns being the Reader (the identity to guess) while other players choose numbered clues to help them identify a well-known person, place, or thing. Points are split between the Reader and the successful Guesser based on how many clues were needed. The first player to reach the Finish space on the board wins.

- Instructions
Setup
- Place all playing pieces at START on the game board.
- Place the red and blue chips along the edge of the game board.
- Open the card deck and place a stack of cards in the center of the game board.
Turn Structure
- The youngest player goes first as the Reader. The Reader selects a card and announces: “I am a __ (Person, Place, or Thing)” as shown at the top of the card. The Reader does not show the card to anyone.
- The player to the Reader’s left (the Guesser) announces a number between 1 and 20, then covers that number on the board with a red chip.
- The Reader reads the clue matching the chosen number.
- The Guesser has 10 seconds to guess the Reader’s identity. Players may only guess on their own turn and must choose a clue before guessing.
- If correct: both the Guesser and Reader score (see Scoring). The player to the Reader’s right becomes the new Reader.
- If incorrect: play continues clockwise — the next player chooses a number, hears a clue, and guesses.
- Continue until someone guesses correctly. There is no penalty for incorrect guesses.
- At any time, players may request the Reader re-read all previously chosen clues.
Actions
Regular Turn
- Choose a number (1-20) not already taken
- Cover it with a red chip
- Listen to the clue
- Guess within 10 seconds (optional but recommended)
Free Guess
- Players holding a blue Free Guess chip may play it before another player’s turn begins
- They guess immediately before the Reader reads the next clue
- If correct, they score the same as a normal correct guess
- The Free Guess chip is returned to the board after use
- A player who uses a Free Guess before their own turn still takes their upcoming turn
- Multiple Free Guess chips may be played on a single turn
Bonus Round
- Triggered when a player lands exactly on a Bonus Space after moving
- The Reader draws a new card and identifies it as Person, Place, or Thing
- The Bonus Player announces 5 numbers one at a time; the Reader reads each clue
- The Bonus Player may guess once at any point during the 5 clues
